Middle Name Game

My Aunt Marti sent this to me by e-mail. It looks like a interesting game, so I thought I'd share.

The rules:

You have to post these rules before you give the facts. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog-post containing your own middle name game facts. At the end of your blog-post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog. My middle name is (or in my case) are Shannon Marie.

*Yes, Sha (pronounced like: Che, Shea, or Shay. NOT Sha, like MarSHA) is short for Shannon, but Shannon is actually my middle name as you can see. hehehe.

Wow - this is going to be very hard **three N's!!!!**

Sensitive. My feelings get hurt easily. At work if a customer is yelling at me about something that has gone wrong I take it personally. My friends tell me I need to separate myself from my job, but I've never figured out how to do that.

Honest. I can't tell a lie if I try. Not even a white lie. I have NO POKER FACE - no, I will not play cards with you!!!

Ambitious. I set high goals for myself and I try my hardest to reach them...If I don't I (mentally) beat myself up. I'm a perfectionist for sure. (No "P" in my middle names). LOL.

Nuturing. I'm a Cancer (Astrology). I like to take care of everyone, and I'm a homebody for sure. My nickname is "Little Mama".

Nervous when meeting new people for the first time. I'm probably one of the most talkative people in a group once I get to know everyone - but first meetings "in person" - ugh. I want to melt into a wall.

Old movie fan. I love watching old movies - especially ones with Shirley Temple or Judy Garland.

Neat house-keeper. I'm mildly messy and mildly clean. I like to organize things - I like everything to have a place - but, I hate doing things like dishes or laundry. I do those things, but I put it off as long as possible because they are so unenjoyable. Next year, I want a dishwasher for Christmas.

Manager. I manage things at work (pretty well, if I do say so) and at home - time, money, etc. I'm a "Little Mama"

Artistic. I took art all through high school and I still love to paint when I have time. From second grade until senior year I wanted to be an art teacher, but in my last few months of high school I decided that I didn't want to be a teacher anymore. When I was 20 I decided that what I really wanted to do was open my own dog kennel - that's my goal now. :)

Romantic. I love reading romance novels, listening to love songs, and planning romantic dates in my head. I do believe there is one person out there for everyone - I hope I find mine. (But if not there are always DOGS to love you, and for you to give your love too!)

Intelligent. I'm definitely not a genius. But I do consider myself to be a smart person. (Do not judge me by my punctuations though - I suck in grammar). LOL.

Enthusiastic. For the most part I'm a "glass is half full kind of person" and I like to jump with both feet first into projects I'm into.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE PUPPIES!!!!

We actually just did Christmas with the pups just a few hours ago. I know it was almost two days late, (I'm a bad MOM) but Michelle and I are on such weird schedules from each other - even if we are both home one of us is sleeping (example - I slept until 3pm today while she was up and about; and now I'm awake at 3am and she's sleeping).

Anyhow - Being late is not the point of this post. The point is -

WE HAD A PUPPY CHRISTMAS!!!

See the big, stuffed stockings!
See those "Healthy Edibles" chicken flavored bones? There are 12 bones in that bag, so each dog gets 3 bones - which provides each dog with 6 minutes of entertainment since they can devour 1 bone in 2 minutes - I'm Serious!

But they love them - so we buy them. :)

I spy with my little eye - four very happy dogs enjoy one very happy "belated" Christmas!

Lily this is one of your presents.

Mommy loves "GO DOG" dragons because GO DOG dragons last a little longer than other stuffed toys because of the material inside them. They are still destructable - it just takes my dogs longer. (Lily really does like her dragon - she just doesn't like the camera flash).

Beautiful Rhiley Girl.
LOL. the hedge hog toy is actually a toy for Little Bear, but he was hiding under the bed - so I was teasing Rhiley with it. HEDGE HOG toys make me think of Clifford (you know ->the big red dog?). Anyway, Clifford's friend, T-Bone, had a HEDGE HOG toy. :)

Some of the toys and all of the treats came from PetSmart - but a few of the toys - like this Tree came from a bin at Walmart - hello $1.00 toys. Mom here (me) found a few bargains this Christmas and as you can see the babies still want to play with the toy that cost $1 - as much as they want to play with the toy that cost $9.

Hello Mr. Sheep/ Mr. Cow? I think he's supposed to be a Sheep - I think - anyway, he's also a GO DOG toy. We've gotten the Dragons many times, but they just got this little guy in recently. He's supposed to have the special material like the dragon - we'll see how long he lasts. :)

A flossy tug rope laying on a Beautiful dog (ain't she gorgeous?) We found this tug rope at PetSmart and it's supposed to be fun to play with as well as good at getting tarter off the teeth (maybe I should take a bite out of it? LOL. Most of the babies like to play tug of war - this should be entertaining.

THIS YEAR'S BIG HIT: PEANUT BUTTER BONES

I almost have this bone out of it's package!

It's free!

It's Mine.

It's stolen...

By a BEAGLE!!!!

hehehe.

But it's okay we have one for each of them. LOL.

LILY chowing down on Madelyne's bone.

Madelyne licking the peanut butter out of the NEW bone.

Rhiley licking her lips after taking a few nibbles out of her Christmas Bone.
**The other two bones in this picture are Chicken flavored, they get chewed on regularly as well.
I handed Little Bear his bone and then picked him up and put him on the floor so that he could chew on it in his favorite place...

Under Michelle's bed - it's the only place he can go that the other dogs cannot get too - if there is anything he doesn't want to share - it goes under the bed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

CHRISTMAS TOYS

Yes, I showed the Stockings again - I just wanted you to see the before and after shots.

See all the toys? I want to be a dog!!!

MADELYNE found a peanut butter bone and is trying to take it out of the package - she's doing a good job too!

See the coil toy at Little Bear's feet. It's supposed to be for Lily, but Little Bear likes it. LOL.

Give it up Mom, I want it!

NOT as a Necklace!

Okay, just for the picture - then I want to chew on it.

Empty stockings.

Check out the embroidery. Michelle had these made at the mall as a Christmas surprise - I love it!!!

An empty bed full of toys - this won't last long - they will be all over the house by morning!

Christmas Eve 2008

It was a very different Christmas Eve - I usually work Christmas Eve night or someone else in the family has too so it's usually not really celebrated. Not this year, all four of us were home. I told my Mom in advance that I had the night off ( I worked 10:30am until 6pm) and that I wanted to make goodies on Christmas Eve - did we ever, but first my Mom gave out a few presents (not all of our presents, just some that we would need for baking).

************************************************************

GIFT EXCHANGE:

I got off work at 6 and had to go home and get Nicole and Sarah's presents, then I ran back to work and gave them their presents and came back home for a second time.

I was planning on giving the girls their presents on Christmas Day but I didn't realize Sarah had off Christmas Day and that Nicole likes to exchange gifts on Christmas Eve. It wasn't a problem - just kind of funny .

Nicole gave me a little bear and some sweet pea lotions from Bath and Body Works. I named the bear SWEET PEA!

Nicole and Sarah loved their gifts and said they couldn't wait to give their kitties their toy mouses. I knew the pet toys would be a hit. LOL.

******************************************
A FEW PRESENTS FROM MOM:

Anyone who knows me pretty well knows that I am not a cook, but I do like to bake. Well, since we were making goodies for the holiday my Mom got Michelle and me a few early Christmas gifts - all having to do with baking.

Mom gave us some silicone baking dishes, a few silicone baking spatulas, some silicone cupcake trays in the shape of gingerbread men, four silicone Santa measuring cups, and a few other things - including a Burl Ives Christmas CD with my favorite Christmas song on it (Have A Holly Jolly Christmas).

My Aunt wanted to know what the CD had to do with cooking - my Mom said "to listen to while we bake of course" and she pulled out her Christmas present to the family. I've been wanting one for a few years now - ever since the old one broke - a record player. It's similar to the old one - as in it plays records, cassettes and the radio - but this new one also plays CDs.

So, I happily ran into my old bedroom closet and pulled out all the records - my Mom's from childhood, my grandma's old ones, and all the kid ones Michelle and I used to listen too. We had a blast singing and dancing in the kitchen and living room.

********************************************

We made three different kinds of desserts:

Pigs in a Blanket, Eclair Pie, and Kisses Peanut Butter Blossoms

I was going to have a step-by-step of the whole fun baking process - and it would have been cute too - but sadly for some reason the pictures I sent from my camera-phone didn't send to my email address - I don't know what happened. But because I deleted them as I sent them there is no way to re-send them :(

On the bright side I now know how to use my Canon Digital Camera that my Aunt got Michelle and me for our Birthday back in June - I took pictures of the finished products on Christmas morning with it (the Eclair Pie slid on the short ride from my Mom's house to my house (oops!) so it's not beautiful anymore like it was.

PICTURES OF THE FINISHED PRODUCTS AND THE RECIPES:

PIGS IN A BLANKET

INGREDIENTS:

at least one can of Pillsbury Poppin' Fresh Biscuits

a bag of Hillshier Farm Lit'l Smokies (we bought it at Sam's Club)

optional: Colby Jack Cheese

** Preheat Oven to 450F.

**We used two cookie sheets and cut each of the biscuits into halves on one sheet and once we wrapped the smokies and cheese in the dough making the PIGS IN A BLANKET then we put the PIGGY on the other sheet.

** Once we finished making all the PIGS IN THE BLANKETS we put the Tray in the Oven for 8-10 minute

*******************************************

KISSES PEANUT BUTTER BLOSSOMS

INGREDIENTS:

48 Hershey's Kisses Chocolates

1/2 cup shortening

3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup packed light brown sugar

1 egg

2 teaspoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt granulated sugar

**Preheat oven to 375F. Remove foil from Kisses chocolates.

**Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.

**Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on un-greased cookie sheet.

**Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. IMMEDIATELY press a chocolate Kisses into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack and allow to cool completely. About four dozen cookies.

Recipe straight from WOMANSDAY magazine

FRENCH ECLAIR PIE

(see it slid) :(

INGREDIENTS:

1 8oz. carton cool whip
2 packages instant French Vanilla Pudding
3 cups milk
graham crackers ( how many depending on your container - I used 16 crackers)
chocolate frosting

**Add milk to pudding and mix well (blender allowed). Let sit 5 minutes. Add cool whip (whole carton) and mix well (NO BLENDER - use a spatula fold in).

**In a 9 in. x 13 in. pan place a layer of graham crackers. Then alternate pudding and chocolate iced graham crackers, ending with a layer of chocolate iced graham crackers with icing on top.
Refrigerate over night.

You now have a French Eclair Pie!

**Recipe taken from my Grandma's collection - slightly revised - we like more chocolate!

A HAPPY TIRED

I'm beat! But in a good way. I was supposed to work from 10:30am until 3pm at PetSmart today, but Michelle and I had to leave early since she needed to be somewhere at 10am (so she had to drop me off at 9:30am). From 9:30am until 10:30am I hung out in the break room and opened mail (bills!) that I had thrown in my purse the night before.

At 10:30am I clocked in and started to work.

The GM was there today, so I said hi to him and let him know that Michelle wanted to talk to him about hours and he told me he needed someone to work evening tonight - I told him "bummer Michelle's working at the other store tonight (which she was) - but on the bright side I WAS AVAILABLE"

Guess who found herself 8 more hours - that's right people - the HUMAN ROBOT :) (me)

So I ended up working 10:30am until 11pm with a 30 minute break.

I love long days - it makes you fell like its worth the gas money it takes to drive to work and back.

Pictures with Santa

A few days ago Michelle took Lily to get her picture taken with Santa.

Well, I don't know for sure what happened, but from what I gathered from my Mom and Michelle - Lily wasn't too sure about getting her photo-op with a man dressed in red who wore a fake beard.

Lily spent the whole time trying to jump out of Santa's reach, and Santa spent the whole time trying to keep her on the bench they were sitting on.

(this was the best picture they got of Lily and Santa - see the struggle)

It turns out that Michelle and Lily came in while Santa was on break. Lily must have seen him putting on the Santa get-up after getting back from break, and felt he must be a "shady" character. lol

I know you're probably wondering why the rest of the gang didn't get Santa photos done - well, they got their pictures done with Santa last Christmas in 2007. We didn't get Lily until the middle of May 2008.

Like I said in the last post, we did professional photos this year - it's too expensive to do both.

.....................................................................................................

Anyway, below are the photos from Christmas 2007.

Forgive the poor quality

*taking a picture of a picture with a camera phone in bad lighting and the pictures' are in a glass frame - yeah, not going to turn out good. And yes, that's me reflected in the glass, lol.

Above: Rhiley and Little Bear with Santa
Below: Madelyne and Bandit with Santa

*I have a really bad fear of the dogs getting loose so Santa had to hold the boos' harnesses in the photos for my "peace of mind". In the top photo you can see the leashes on Santa's wrist (and in both photos it looks like Santa is being "taken out" if you know what I mean - I didn't realize this until after the photos were printed.

All and all I love the pictures, but they are a little unorthodox.

Blogger and Professional Photos

Back in October (Oct. 16 <-- Madelyne's birthday to be exact) we went and got professional photos taken with the doggies.

(ME WITH LITTLE BEAR)

We took a lot of photos and gave copies away to family as Christmas presents.

Well, I was trying to play with the blog today and discovered a way to put some of the photos onto the blog - if you look to the left you will see a little picture of all of us (except the guinea pigs) in our family photo. And if you scroll all the way down you can check out four more pictures at the bottom. We got two cds with all the photos we took that day, I'm not really great with the computer, but I somehow got it to let me upload these photos onto the blog -yay me!

(MICHELLE WITH LILY)
Hope you like all the photos! :)

Photo Game

I saw this on a blog that I frequently visit and thought it would be a fun game. :)

Rules of the game: go to your picture folder, and in the 6th folder, choose the 6th picture and tell the story behind that photo. And then tag six more people to play!

***I changed the rules a little bit***

Since I'm new to the blogging world and don't have a big group of friends on here, I'm only going to tag one person by name. And I also chose the 6th picture in my cell phone since I don't use a "photo folder" on my computer (I just have one folder that I download everything too: pictures from family, pictures I've used for school, photos of celebs I like, etc.) Anyways...
The awesome #6 photo in my cell is: Madelyne!

* I took this photo of Maddy right after we got our carpets professionally cleaned. (Which cost over $200 by the way, for a hallway, living room, and dining room.) The guys who had come to clean the carpets had just left, and Michelle and I were thinking about where we wanted to go while the carpets dried. Maddy didn't care about the carpets being damp she lay down in the hallway with her toy and decided to take a nap.

I will now tag: MELANIE and anyone else who would like to join in!

A sweet "dog" chain e-mail I got

This is an amazing story!

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.' Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open becau se Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing.

Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's other favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer.
She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him. The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.

The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.

Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital.. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap.. Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed.

When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned! While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love.

Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every day. It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his=2 0greatest treasure.

Remember....live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing from God. And never forget....the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care for us.

If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours! Live simply. Love seriously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God

A small request: All you are asked to do is keep this circulating.

Dear God, I pray for the cure of cancer. Amen

All you are asked to do is keep this circulating Even if it's to one more person.
In memory of anyone you know that has been struck down by cancer or is still living with it

Christmas Party at PetSmart

So the Christmas Party was how I figured it would be - because it took place on a Saturday I figured it would basically be food in the break room and you chow down on your break - it was just that.

It's not a bad thing, but it's also not something to get really excited over. I guess I'm spoiled at the theater. We are pretty slow during certain times of the day so when we plan a party we do it during the down time, that way it really is a party with little or no interruptions in the middle (example: the going away party for Mike).

I was sad about the Secret Santa. I was hoping it would be coordinated so that we could see everyone open their presents but they just had us put the presents on the table in the break room. Not everyone was there today, so some of us didn't get a present today at all.

On a bright side I loved the gingerbread houses (above) Erin made (Erin's the manager I got to play Secret Santa for). It turns out she makes awesome gingerbread houses - aren't they cute!?!? (close-ups below)

Weeweechu

It's a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita, let's do Weeweechu."

Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon!" said Rosita.

Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I do Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged.

"But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon." replied Rosita.

Please, corazoncito, just once, do Weeweechu with me."

Rosita looked at Pedro and said, "OK, one time, we'll do Weeweechu."

Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang.....

"Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year."

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Early Christmas-Michelle

For this Christmas I got an early present from my mother. I got an E-Book reader. Basically it is an electronic device that you download e-books onto to take with you everywhere and the books usually cost about half the price and usually come out in e-book before print. I love it and use it all the time. I have a few already on the e-book. I really love it and use it everyday.
I had been wanting one for a while but I wanted to see it in person before I got it but they were only online until now. When I finally found them at Books a Million I told my mom and we went to look at them and got some advise from Circuit City. We went back to get it and they had only got 2 in and sold both. They called another store and put one on hold and we went to get the next day. It is really easy to use.

I'm Wacky

You'd think after working a 17 hour shift I would go home and crawl right into bed. I didn't.

Instead, I stole Marti away to Denny's for a 1am hot tea (for her) and a chocolate milkshake (for me) and then I came home to my pups and the Internet.

I am tired, but it's that slightly loopy tired where you know you need to sleep but aren't quite sure how you're supposed to get to sleep.

I have to be at work tomorrow/today at 11:30am.

Now time for my late night rant:
Covering projectors is a really stupid thing in my opinion sometimes. I cover them at 12:30am, just to uncover them again at 11:30am... sigh

I am too tired to rant.

I guess I'll blog more tomorrow - after I lift heavy stock...my muscles hurt just thinking about it.

25 Questions on Christmas

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I wrap presents, and if they fit - put them in a gift bag.

2. Real tree or Artificial?
Artificial. I'm allergic. This year, there's no tree in our house - no place to put it. But that's okay, my Mom and Aunt have a white Victorian style tree up year round to enjoy.

3.When do you put up the tree?
Mom's - like I said it's up year round. If I put ours up...probably a week after Thanksgiving...

4. When do you take the tree down?
It doesn't usually come down until early February.

5. Do you like eggnog?
No - I don't even like egg-drop soup.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
Barbies (I gave those away when I was probably 13 yrs old) and the American girl dolls (my cousin is borrowing them), and my first tv set (i still have it).

7. Hardest person to buy for?

My Mom - she's a practical person.

8. Easiest person to buy for?

My sister - book gift certificates, she's happy.

9. Do you have a nativity scene?
Yeah, my Mom and Aunt's little one that went on their coffee table

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Snail Mail.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Mom and Michelle are not allowed to pick out clothes for me - I love you guys, but ask Marti's opinion.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
I love all the older ones - the ones that come out now are usually stupid funny -spare me. My all time favorites are "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Shoes".

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
I'm usually a early-early bird. I try to start in August, making the list, finding out how much I need to save. Then I start buying.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
No. But, I have gotten a present for someone and then we're no longer friends by Christmas and used the gift myself - does that count? I'm not giving it to someone else.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
The Christmas tradition I started about a year or so ago - Pigs in a Blanket on Christmas eve.

16. Lights on the tree?
Blinking Colored Lights and Silver Tinsel, with home-made ornaments from childhood.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

I love them all, but probably:

"Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" sung by The Royal Guardsmen.

"Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" sung by Burl Ives

"Christmas Shoes" sung by NewSong

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Home, I try to work a double on Christmas, but the theater is not working with me. I'll probably only work 6-close. We go to my Mom's to eat or out to eat (I prefer going out, less stressful)

.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Yes, I can (But can I spell them - probably not).
Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen

20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Morning, or way in advance we call them "Early Christmas presents".
Example: Michelle's eBook Reader and my Leather Jacket

21. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
Stress of making Christmas Dinner (Let's go out to eat Mom!)
Paying off the Credit Cards after Christmas.

22. Favorite ornament theme or color?
I'm sentiment. I love the handmade ones from when Michelle and I were in Elementary school.

23. What do you want for Christmas this year?
- My leather jacket - which I got early (I've had the same coat for 11 years - I got it when I was 11 -12 years old, 6th grade)

- a tea maker.

- money to get another necklace made.

- money for another tattoo.

- 90210 dvd set. (i have season's 1 and 2 already)

Secret Santa Presents

Today was a productive day.

I worked at PetSmart from 12:45pm until 6:45pm. The General Manager was there and he called me over to pick a name out of a bag for the Secret Santa. I pulled a name and got Erin. She's one of the managers at our store. I was happy - I like Erin and talk to her every once in a while so I had a slight idea about what to get her.

I also pulled a name for Michelle. She technically works at another store now, but she still floats to "my" store about once a week. I pulled Brandon for her. H e works in the salon - which is good. Michelle worked with him back there for a while so she knew a little about him.

We were both relieved we knew the people we pulled. I can easily say I don't know/ have never talked to half the people on our schedule. I work at PetSmart 3 days a week, but usually at night - people that work from 4am-12pm - I never see them.

Anyway, when I got off work I went shopping for the Secret Santa gifts and also for two of my friends' presents.

I know I said I was done shopping, I wasn't. But -I made it easy. I made their gifts exactly like my Secret Santa for Erin:

A Mug, A Gift Card to BN, and a Godiva Chocolate Bar.

I also got my friends' cats a present to go in their bags - little Christmas toy mice (sooo cute!)

Michelle got Brandon a Gift Card to the movies and a bag of Christmas m&ms (they are white m&ms with stockings and Christmas wreath prints on them). The m&m bag is tied with a little green bow - so she got a green gift box for the gift card.

Here is a picture of the gift bags all beau-ti-fied:

Pretty, huh? The Secret Santa Exchange is scheduled for December 20 - just a few more days.

I'm Going Cold Turkey - Sha

OK, I CAN DO THIS!!!

I just spent the last hour writing down all the information on my credit cards (for information sake) and cutting each one up. That is 9 cards all together (3 store cards and 6 credit cards). Two of the cards were empty - the other 7 practically maxed. Now, I have only my debit card - good news - I have only overdrawn my account once and it was by a stupid mistake (I didn't realize it takes a few days for a paycheck to go through - I was 18) and I'll slit my wrists before I overdraw again.

*I know, bad/gross attempt at humor- but I'm trying to give you an idea about how upset I am about my problem.*

P.S. I do have overdraft protection.

I realized I had a shopping/ going out to eat problem back in May '08 but wasn't really able to do anything about it. I transferred some balances onto 0% cards- but it didn't work, I just charged the old ones back up and added new stuff to the "0 precents". Stupid I know - but, I wasn't exactly thinking about being responsible. I was thinking "if I'm going down I might as well enjoy it". I was depressed, but in a odd way, still trying to stay above water.

I decided to get a second job. It took a few months to get a second job that would work with my slightly weird availability (every other day). I got the part-time position at PetSmart in August. The hours still aren't as many as I'd like to have...but we're in a Recession ...I know - GREAT).

I have got to STOP charging. I have to LIVE on my paycheck. I have to eat at HOME. I have to. There isn't any other options.

Please, Give me Encouragement. And Easy to Make Recipes. :)

Sha's New Year's Resolutions: 2009

I know it's still early for this, but to be completely honest - I made the list at the beginning of last month. Like I mentioned in the last post - I'm a planner and I like to be early on practically everything.

New Years Resolutions 2009

1. PAY OFF CREDIT CARDS.

I had no debt last year. This year it sky-rocketed. I need to pay off all of my cards and cut them up.

2. Buy a CAR.

Michelle's car and my car both broke-down last year in August (2007). We got one car that we share and my Mom and Aunt are awesome about helping me get to and from both of my jobs - it is a hassle on all of us. I really need to get a Car.

3. Work of Training the Pups.

It's a free goal - all it costs is fun "time" with the babies. If I can get them to come when I call the first time, instead of it becoming a game of "Chase the Dog around the yard" maybe I won't be so scared of them getting loose.

(I have a lawn service that comes to my house to do my yard work - they have a bad habit of leaving my gates open - Yes, my gates all have "Beware of Dog" signs on them. I don't know why they keep forgetting I have animals and leaving the gates wide open).

4. ONLY USE CREDIT CARDS if I HAVE To; VET BILLS ONLY!!!

I have a bad habit of using the credit cards on what I want and not thinking about if I have the money. My main thing is using them to go out to eat - I hate cooking!!!

5. If it's possible: Start Saving Money for TX.

I don't think I'll have any money to save for the move, the cards have to be paid off first and my hours keep getting cut at my jobs - but If I can I need to save.

6. RELAX. BREATH. NO BREAK-DOWNS This Year.

My financial problems will work themselves out. They always do. Remember to Live Life this year. My Troubles are going to go away. I WILL SUCCEED! :)

Secret Santas and Christmas Shopping

SECRET SANTA:

I Am Officially done Christmas Shopping - except for the Secret Santa at PetSmart (where I'm a Cashier)!!!

I'm pretty sure what I'm gonna buy. No one from that job reads this blog so I can put it here. The maximum we can spend is $10 - and I'm playing it safe this year - a gift card to the movies - I'm pretty sure anyways - unless I get someone I know VERY well. Here's the reason:

A few years ago, my art class had a Secret Santa Exchange with the maximum we could spend being $15. I put my hand in the pot and I got a guy named James. Now, I know we'd been in the same art class for 4 years together (the whole class had - it was a speciality class) but James and I weren't exactly close friends. I did however know that he loved coffee. So thinking it was a great idea, the next time I was in Barnes and Nobles (about 2 days later) I got him the "holiday" Starbucks coffee pack.

A few days after I bought it (a week or two still from the exchange date) I hear him talking to some of our classmates about how he hates Starbucks coffee. DAMN - my gift wouldn't work- but I was happy that I'd found out beforehand (how embarrassed would I have been if I'd given it to him!).

I ended up giving the "Holiday" coffee pack to our art teacher (who does like Starbucks) and getting James a coffee mug (which he could use with any coffee), a Woodstock beanie toy ('cuz I knew he liked Charlie Brown), and a gift card to the movies ('cuz they can be used for any movie).

It's kind of boring to give a gift from someplace you work (I work at a movie theater), but I can't do a restaurant. Reason:

My sister and I were trying to think of a gift card for one of her friends for Christmas and I suggested Red Lobsters - and my sister says "no she hates seafood". So i said OK, how about Olive Garden - she had her wedding reception there - my sister informed me that her friend's father had picked the place since he was paying for the dinner and that her friend had eaten "butter noodles". Nix the Olive Garden idea.

Nix the Restaurant gift card as a Secret Santa gift all together to be safe.

Good Idea (I hope): A Movie Theater Gift Card - unless they don't like going to the theater I think I'm safe.

Unless you, the blog reader, have any ideas???

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING:

I know some of y'all will think I'm crazy - but I'm usually done with my Christmas shopping by the end of August. I normally start my Christmas shopping at the beginning of August and will be done by August 31st.

I don't know what happened this year but I didn't get started until around the end of September and I just finished tonight.

I had the "human" presents done about 2 weeks ago, but I waited on finishing my "four legged" shopping until today (since the employees get 30% off today and tomorrow only). PetSmart has 30% days only twice a year for the employees - we usually get 15%.

But I'm all finished now! :)

CHECK OUT THE BABIES' (PUPS' and GUINEAS') STOCKINGS; they are FULL!!!

As you can see, Lily can't wait for Christmas to come. Not only so she can open her stocking, but all of her brother and sisters' stockings too! Something in Rhiley's sure has her attention!!!

( That's Madelyne's black booty on the left - she's sleeping)

But, I think I had to have a ride home in the ambulance) - Asked my Mom, she said yes, I had to use the ambulance to get home. She also, said to mention that my Aunt had to prove to the nurses that they (my Mom and Aunt) could get me out of the house in case of a fire by carrying me in my "mummy cast" up and down a fire escape - I was 3 and my cast weighed at least 50 lbs.

It's one of my favorite dates to look back on...)

53. Played in the mud (what kid hasn't? One of my favorite books as a kid was Sesame Street's "Nothing to Do". I'd broken my leg on the church playground (going down the fireman's pole straight legged). My Mom's work sent a bunch of balloons and the strings from the balloons were wrapped around Puff-Puff's tummy. The other toy is also from when I broke my leg - Lamby. Lamby, was given to me by the Hospital. They gave her to me right before they put me "under". Lamby has a music box inside of her - it still plays. Think mummy --> it was my upper thigh, the cast went up to my ribs and stopped at one of my knees and the other leg the cast went down to my toes. A whole was cut so I could go potty and a bar went between my legs at the knee. The doctor said to my Mom that it was a good thing I had chubby legs or you would have seen the bone sticking out. I was at the hospital for 11 days while the doctors pulled the bone straight (before they could put the cast on obviously). I broke my arm/wrist, when I was 6 yrs old. I'd gone roller skating and fell. I tried to catch myself and ended up snapping my wrist. And of course it was the one I usually wrote with (I'm a Lefty). I had to use my right hand while it healed. My hand writing looked just as good and my teacher hoped I'd continue using my right hand - I didn't. If feels more natural in my Left.
